Lesson one

Homework–Answer the following questions: 1. How often do you use the internet, and what for? What websites will you recommend to your friends? Do you ever listen to podcasts?

I use the Internet quite often. I use the Internet to get information and communicate with users who come to me with questions or requests. I can also be used to read news, watch videos, and learn languages.
If I have to recommend sites to my friends, I would recommend sites like Google, Wikipedia and YouTube. Google can help you find the right information, and Wikipedia can provide detailed information about any topic. YouTube is a great source for watching videos on various topics.
Also, I can suggest some podcasts that might be interesting. Some of my recommendations include “The Daily” from The New York Times, “Serial” from This American Life, and “The Joe Rogan Experience.” These podcasts cover a variety of topics and may be of interest to different users.

Homework-What interesting ways of  cures do you know? Write about them.

Throughout history, people have come up with various interesting ways of curing ailments and diseases. Some of these cures are rooted in traditional medicine, while others have been developed more recently. Here are a few interesting cures that you may not have heard of:

  1. Leech therapy: Leeches have been used for medicinal purposes for thousands of years. In modern medicine, leeches are often used to treat circulatory problems, such as blood clots, and to help heal wounds. The leeches secrete a natural anticoagulant, which can help to improve blood flow and reduce inflammation.
  2. Cupping therapy: Cupping therapy involves placing cups on the skin and creating a vacuum, which helps to stimulate blood flow and promote healing. It is often used to treat muscle pain and stiffness, as well as respiratory conditions such as asthma and bronchitis. Cupping therapy is commonly used in traditional Chinese medicine.
  3. Honey: Honey has been used for its medicinal properties for thousands of years. It has natural antibacterial properties and can help to soothe sore throats and coughs. It is also used topically to help heal wounds and burns.
  4. Turmeric: Turmeric is a spice that is commonly used in Indian cuisine, but it is also used for its medicinal properties. It contains curcumin, which has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. Turmeric is often used to treat conditions such as arthritis and digestive issues.
  5. Music therapy: Music therapy involves using music to promote healing and improve emotional well-being. It has been used to treat conditions such as depression, anxiety, and chronic pain. Music therapy can involve listening to music, playing an instrument, or singing.

Homework–Learn the dialogue by heart

Lesson two

Homework-Slide 29, discussion box, choose one of the topics from the discussion box and write a short essay about it

Topic: Should school start later in the morning?

For many years, students have been forced to wake up early in the morning to attend school. However, in recent years, there has been growing debate about whether school should start later in the morning. The question is, should schools consider changing their start times to better accommodate students’ sleep patterns?

One argument for starting school later in the morning is that teenagers tend to have different sleep patterns from adults. Studies have shown that adolescents need more sleep than adults, and they tend to have difficulty falling asleep early in the evening. This means that many teenagers are not getting enough sleep, which can have negative effects on their health and academic performance. By starting school later in the morning, students would have more time to sleep, which could result in improved academic performance.

Another argument in favor of starting school later is that it could lead to improved student safety. Research has shown that many car accidents involving teenagers happen early in the morning when they are on their way to school. By starting school later, students would be less likely to have to travel to school during the dark hours of the morning, potentially reducing the number of accidents.

Homework-Creating slides for our school presentation

Lesson two for 8-6

Homework-Suggest words for the dictionary, write the English explanations for words and phrases. You can also suggest any famous song in English, where you can change some words and make it suitable for this project

Here are five words with English explanations that could be suggested for a dictionary:

  1. Hangry — (adjective) a combination of hungry and angry, used to describe the feeling of being irritable or short-tempered due to hunger

Example: I’m sorry for snapping at you earlier. I was just feeling hangry.

  1. Ecocide — (noun) the destruction of the natural environment, usually as a result of human activities

Example: Many people believe that we are on the brink of ecocide, and urgent action is needed to prevent further damage to the planet.

  1. Infodemic — (noun) an overabundance of information, often inaccurate or misleading, that makes it difficult to identify accurate information

Example: During the pandemic, there was an infodemic of fake news and misinformation spreading on social media.

  1. Nomophobia — (noun) the fear of being without one’s mobile phone or not having access to a mobile network

Example: I can’t go anywhere without my phone — I think I have nomophobia!

  1. Screenager — (noun) a young person who has grown up in the digital age and is comfortable using digital technology

Example: My teenage daughter is a real screenager — she spends hours on her phone and laptop every day.

As for a famous song in English that could be adapted for this project, you could consider “Lean on Me” by Bill Withers. You could change some of the lyrics to reflect the importance of supporting one another and staying connected in challenging times. For example, instead of “just call on me, brother, when you need a hand,” you could change it to “just call on me, friend, when you need a shoulder to lean on.”

Homework–English in mind, Part II, slide 1 (page 51), discussion box-choose a topic from the discussion box and write an essay (app. 200 words)

Laugh

Laughter is a powerful and universal human experience. It is a physical expression of joy, happiness, and humor that has the ability to connect people and bring them together. Whether it’s a belly laugh, a chuckle, or a giggle, laughter has the power to uplift our mood, relieve stress, and improve our overall well-being.

Laughter has been studied by scientists and researchers for years, and the benefits of laughter have been widely recognized. It releases endorphins, the body’s natural painkillers, which can help reduce physical pain and improve our mood. Laughter also reduces the levels of stress hormones in our body, such as cortisol and adrenaline, which can have a negative impact on our health if they remain elevated for long periods of time.

In addition to its physical benefits, laughter also has social and emotional benefits. It helps us to connect with others, to form bonds, and to feel a sense of community. When we share a good laugh with someone, we feel a sense of unity and camaraderie that can help to strengthen relationships.

Laughter is also a powerful tool for coping with difficult situations. It can help to diffuse tension and lighten the mood, making it easier to deal with stressful or challenging situations. It can help to shift our perspective and remind us that even in difficult times, there is still room for joy and positivity.
